Hans Schnitzer, Graz University of Technology, Austria
Hans Schnitzer has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and is Prof. for Chemical Engineering Fundamentals and Energy Technology at Graz University of Technology. His teaching focus is set on Chemical Engineering Fundamentals, Energy Technology, Cleaner Production and Process intensification. He founded a private Research Company for Materials-Energy-Environment (STENUM) in 1991. From 1998 to 2010 he was Head of JOANNEUM RESEARCH Institute of Sustainable Techniques and Systems – JOINTS, since 2012 he is chairman of the private research organization “CityLabGraz”. His main research activities at present lay in the field of Cleaner Production in all its aspects as environmental management, technologies, process assessment, production logistics, energy concepts, use of renewable resources and international networking; environmental, economical and strategic consulting on local, regional, national and EU level. Another focus lays on innovations for urban quality of life. He is evaluator for several journals in the field of process engineering, innovation, energy and cleaner production as well as for research funds and the UNIDO program on National Cleaner Production Centers.
Hans Schnitzer was the 1st Chairman of the "European Roundtable on Cleaner Production" and organized the 1st Roundtable on Cleaner Production in Graz / Austria. He is member of the Austrian Panel on Climate Change (APCC) and member of the scientific board of the solar research institute “AEE-Institute of Sustainable Technologies”. His main research activities at present lay in the field of Cleaner Production in all its aspects as process intensification, resource and energy efficient technologies, process assessment, production logistics, energy concepts for companies and cities.
