Transforming global societies with the aid of the Sustainable Development Goals: Realistic vision or impossible dreams?

Kitty van der Heijden,

In September 2015, world leaders world will agree on a set of 'Global Sustainable Development Goals' (SDGs), which are designed to rebalance the global development pathway: growing the global economy, sharing prosperity more equitably whilst remaining within planetary boundaries. This ambitious new agenda requires universal action: all governments, and all segments of society, will have to change the way they do business, based on a new culture of shared responsibility. Countries, the private sector, academia and civil society will need to translate the SDGs into national and corporate strategies.
